Interesting Facts About Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

  • Born in Thiruthani, Tamil Nadu, in 1888, Dr. Radhakrishnan excelled academically and pursued philosophy at Christian College, Madras. 
  • He went on to teach at prestigious institutions such as University of Mysore, University of Calcutta, and Banaras Hindu University. 
  • His academic journey culminated in his appointment as Spalding Professor of Eastern Religion and Ethics at University of Oxford, a first for an Indian scholar.
  • Served as Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, Delhi University, and Banaras Hindu University
  • Served as first Vice President of India and subsequently became second President of country. 
  • Dr. Radhakrishnan was awarded Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian hour.
