Randhir Jaiswal, who joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), in 1998, is now the new spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, taking over from the previous spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, who has been designated as India’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva.
Educational qualifications:
Randhir Jaiswal holds a bachelor's and master's degree in history from Delhi University.
Diplomatic career:
During his political career, Randhir Jaiswal served in various countries, including Portugal, Cuba, South Africa, and at India's permanent mission to the UN in New York. The newly appointed MEA spokesperson, Jaiswal held positions of deputy secretary and joint secretary. His work was to manage diplomatic relations with countries in western Europe. During 2017, he was assigned to serve the President as the joint secretary responsible for international relations. In July 2020, he took on the role of Consul General in New York. In July 2020, he was apointed as consul general in New york, where he was part of Indian delegation at various climate change conferences. and after that Randhir Jaiswal becomes MEA spokeperson.
