After Uttarakhand Police, FDA tightens noose on 'Spit Jihad' in Devbhoomi

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken serious note of the incidents of 'Spit Jihad' in Dehradun and Mussoorie. As per the clear instructions of the Chief Minister, after the Uttarakhand Police, a detailed guideline has also been issued by the FDA in this regard. The Chief Minister's clear message is that those who commit such acts in Devbhoomi will not be spared.

A few days ago, a video of a restaurant located in Inamulla building in Dehradun went viral in which the person cooking in the hotel was clearly seen spitting in the food. The very next day, another such incident came to light from Mussoorie, the queen of hills, where a man was spitting in tea in the main market. Police have made arrests in both of those cases.

The state government has taken both the incidents very seriously. The Chief Minister's message has been clear that anyone who hurts the sentiments of the people by committing such misdeeds, be it from any religion or caste, will not be spared under any circumstances. In line with the strict instructions of the Chief Minister, the Director General of Uttarakhand Police directed all the SSPs and districts to ensure 100 per cent verification of the employees working in hotel dhabas and other commercial places and ensure installation of CCTV cameras at such places. To curb these activities, a case should be registered under Section 274 BNS and Section 81 of the Uttarakhand Police Act. Further, if such incidents adversely affect religious, ethnic or linguistic sentiments, strict action under Section 196 (1) should also be taken.

After the action of Uttarakhand Police, FDA has also started strict action in this matter and has issued guidelines for those who regularly mix spit or dirt in food items. Under this, along with the action of a fine of 25 thousand to 1 lakh rupees on the culprits, food traders will have to compulsorily wear their employees, photo identity cards, cameras, etc.Meat traders, dhabas, hotels and restaurant operators will have to write whether the meat is halal or fit jhatka. Wearing of face mask / gloves / head gear has been made mandatory for staff engaged in preparation and serving of food.
