While it is predominantly celebrated in India and Nepal, festival, se days, is widely celebrated in or Asian and Western countries owing to presence of Indian diaspora in se regions.
Celebrations begin a night before with Holika Dahan, wherein people perform religious rituals in front of a bonfire and pray for destruction of evil, just way Holika, sister of demon king, Hiranyakashipu, was killed by setting her on fire.
On this auspicious occasion of Holi, people smear each or with colours and hurl water baloons at one ar. People are often engaging in celebratory dance to beats of drums, thus furring spirit of togerness.

Festivities also include some lip-smacking sweets and savories, as well as bhang-a customary drink me from cannabis.
