Literature and writing are connected to each other but do not mean the same thing, literally. Literature was introduced to the world even before the renaissance period when scholars used to pen down books and poetries in their regional language. The translation of these books came in much later. Over thousands of books have been translated to the English language which is majorly spoken in the world. While India is highly influenced by British English literature because of being under their rule in the past, many books have been translated and studied since then. Arabic, Persian and French books translated to English

Arabic books

India was first introduced to the Arabic language when traders came in for trading from the Gulf countries. That is when many Arabic books were also introduced to the country. Many great books like Sarmada, The Thief and The Dogs, Season of Migration to the North, In the Country of Men, Women of Sand and Myrrh, and The Locust and the Bird were some notable works of the Arabic literature which were adapted to English novels.

Persian books

The Parsis from Persia came to India in the 10th century. That was the first time India was influenced by Persian literature. Persian books like My Uncle Napolean, Stories from Iran, Savushun, Seven Shades of Memory: Stories from Old Iran, Black Parrot Green Crow were translated to English.

French books

The last European people to enter India were the French. They came to India in the 16th Century during the reign of King Louis. There were many French scholars who had been contributing to literature since then and some of their notable books like The Stranger and The Plague by Albert Camus, Candide by Voltaire, The Fall, The Little Prince, The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Around the World in Eighty Days were translated to English.
