How 'Ganita Bodhini' became the standard of teaching in Karnataka

Charles Pendilbury was one of most rewned mamaticians of his time and he was also  Secretary of Mamatical Association of London for 50 years. His book, Arithmetic for Standards, was a comprehensive guideline for teachers, which taught m how to teach Mamatics to ir students. Pendilbury's book was later translated into Kannada in 1899. This translation, titled Ganita Bodhini, is used to this day by primary grade teachers in Karnataka.

How Charles Pendilbury's Arithmetic for Standards became go-to guide for teachers in Karnataka

Ganita Bodhini is Kannada translation of Pendilbury's Arithmetic for Standards. translator is t credited and book was a first edition that was published all way back in 1899. Ganita Bodhini was never credited to any translator. Moreover, book was a first edition that was published by Seymour Hale of Mumbai. 5000 copies, of 264 ps each, were printed by S.P.C.K. Press, Veperi. price of first edition is t mentioned on cover p.

Ganita Bodhini is w leading guidebook for primary teachers across state of Karnataka. book teaches mentors how to properly teach ir students Arithmetics in a fun and engaging manner. book has 14 chapters, with each chapter dealing with a different branch of Arithmetics. While one chapter deals with tables and multiplication, ors deal with topics such as numerals, addition, and subtraction.

Pendilbury's Arithmetic for Standards gave a detailed lesson on how to teach numbers 1-100. He also provided a detailed list of instructions for teachers in chapter one of book. Ganita Bodhini perfectly translates Pendilbury's book and lessons provided in texts is still used in primary schools to this day. book advises teachers to recite numbers and ask students to repeat after m. It also tells teachers that y need to keep students engd at all times. se principles are commonly used in schools across country.
