To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

book, published in 1960, became an immediate literature classic. story covers racism happening in sourn USA through its main protagonist, a small girl named Jean Louise “Scout” Finch. In this story, protagonist’s far, Atticus Finch, is a role model to little girl and also changes way how caucasians looked at or races. He does it while tension between communities was very high. To Kill a Mockingbird earned Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1961.

A Pass to India by E.M. Forster

book was published in year 1924, after author's many visits to India. book tells fictional story of a Muslim Indian doctor named Aziz and his relationship with an English professor, Cyril Fielding. story is set in fictional city of Chandrapore, and it is a tale about rising tension between Indian community and colonial British community. book colourfully describes nature and landscape of India.

Ulysses by James Joyce:

Lolita by Vlimir Nabokov

book was first published in year 1955. This book revolves around  controversial premise of a professor being obsessed with a 12-year-old girl, Dolores Haze. He later becomes her stepfar and gets sexually involved with her. "Lolita" is a nickname given to her by her stepfar. story was written in English and was later translated to Russian.

Moby Dick by Herman Melville

book was first published in 1851. saga revolves around Captain Ahab and his pursuit of white whale. With all of its mythic grandeur, poetic majesty, and symbolic power, this is considered one of best stories of English literature.
