The Jungle Book is one of the most popular stories across the globe. It is that of an orphan young boy, who is raised by a pack of wolves in a forest. The book takes you through the series of trials and tribulations that Mowgli goes through, to save himself from being hunted down by a tiger named Shere Khan (tiger).

Everything you need to know about 'The Jungle Book'
It is an extremely popular book, which is written by Rudyard Kipling. The book was published in 1894 and is a collection of stories from the pen of the legendary author. The Jungle Book was converted into an animated TV Series in 1989 under the same title and ran over a successful stint of 102 episodes. The TV Series became highly popular amidst kids across the globe, and years later transformed into a massive budget adventure, animation Walt Disney movie ‘ The Jungle Book’ in 2016. The film was one of the most-awaited Disney films of all time, and it didn’t come as a shock when it did exceedingly well at the box-office worldwide. It was directed by Jon Favreau with Neel Sethi in the lead role, who played the character of Mowgli in the film.

The plot of the story
As mentioned above, the story is based on the life of a braveheart orphan kid Mowgli. He is raised by Raksha (female wolf) and her wolfpack including their leader Akela. Mowgli was found as an infant by Bagheera, a black panther, amid the dense forest. He then takes him to Raksha, who takes care of Mowgli like her own child. Bagheera acts as a protector of Mowgli from all the other wild animals. He also trains Mowgli to be able to survive in the forest on his own, without anyone's help. As years go by, Mowgli grows from an infant to a young boy within the company of wild animals whom he treats as his own. Shere Khan is a ruthless tiger, the king of the forest, who wants to kill and eat Mowgli anyhow. During his conquest to hunt down Mowgli, he kills Akela as well. That’s when Mowgli decides to seek revenge from Shere Khan by using his human skills. A major character in the story is that of Baloo the bear, who grows close to Mowgli and Bagheera, the trio becomes thick friends, and standby each other throughout the story. Baloo is a happy-go-lucky kind of bear, who only believes in having fun. Overall its' an interesting tale of a man-cub, which is a must-read.
