Dhanteras rituals
According to Hindu mythology, Dhanteras is celebrated as Laksmi Puja in hour of Goddess Lakshmi. Goddess is offered a ‘Naivaideya’ of tritional sweets consisting of dry fruits and devotional songs or bhajans are sung in praise of Goddess. To indicate long-awaited arrival of festival, small footprints are drawn with rice flour and vermilion powder at entrance of house. Many people believe in buying gold and silver articles on day of Dhanteras, as it is considered that purchase of any new special metal brings fortune and wealth in house. In rural areas, farmers decorate and orn ir cattle on occasion of Dhanteras, which marks ir respect towards ir only source of income.

Dhanteras muhurat
According to Hindu mythology, Lakshmi Puja is performed mostly in evenings with tiny clay pots, popularly kwn as diyas, which are lit to drive away from evil spirits. According to folklore, Lakshmi Puja is performed to prevent Yama, host of death to avert untimely death. Here is muhurat of Dhanteras Puja;
