Instagram's new updates: The platform removes 'following' tab

Instagram users will observe a few new updates this week. The main update to focus upon is the removal of the ‘following tab’. This means that people won’t be able to stalk what their friends like, comment, or follow as per the new update. Along with this, Instagram rolled out two more features, including the introduction of 'restrict feature' and the 'dark mode' that was introduced last week.

Instagram following tab: Why did Instagram remove the tab, and will the users face any difficulty?

This move was brought to bring simplicity to the image-sharing platform. Plus, it’s likely that many people won’t even realise that it’s gone. The basic right of privacy gets hampered if people can see what we like or comment, or follow. Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, confirmed this update in his tweet. From now on, the users will be able to see their own activity when they press the heart tab; this is the only difference that the users will face. Thus, thanks to this update,  you would not have to cringe anymore after watching the questionable posts liked by your contacts.

Instagram updates; Restrict feature

Instagram has also introduced a new feature called 'Restrict'. Now, this feature seems pretty useful as it will allow us to restrict specific people without them knowing about it. You can restrict people who send you offensive comments or abusive posts. Only you and the person will be able to see the comment but no other person will be able to see that restricted person's comment on your post. Plus, the people you restrict won't know when you come online or whether you have read their messages or not. You can restrict the person directly from their profile or through the Privacy Tab in Settings or just swiping left on a comment.

Instagram updates: Dark mode

Last Tuesday, Instagram announced the Dark Mode update as well to reduce eye strain and save the phone's battery life at the same time. The feature will work for mobiles with iOS 13 or Android 10 versions. Check out the official notification by the Instagram head on twitter.
