Procedure to make Kajal at home

Step 1: Making kajal is not as tough as people generally find it. Bring half tablespoon of ghee or oil aside and pour the rest into the lamp, put a cotton wick and light it.

Step 2: Cover the top of the lamp with a copper plate so that the flame touches it. Allow the lamp to burn for as long as the oil burns. This might take approximately 8-10 hours.

Step 3: When the oil burns itself away, a thick powdery black residue will appear on the copper plate, which is the base of the kajal. Now, use the half teaspoon of oil which was kept away, and pour it into the black residue properly.

Step 4: Rub the entire residue and oil for at least one or two minutes. Too thin and it will smudge, too thick and it will be in lumps. The kajal is ready. Store it at room temperature for two or three hours before use.
