In the southern part of India, the different types of sarees have also brought about a wide variety of saree draping styles. Each one is unique and beautifully complements the material of the sarees. Although originally, the handloom zari is their speciality, lots of other types of sarees have also made it to the list of sarees from Telangana.

Pochampally Saree

The other name for Pochampally is Ikkat meaning tie and dye. Telangana is well known for silk sarees. These handwoven sarees that are a mixture of silk and cotton fabric are ideal for using as traditional wear and at the same time also suit the contemporary style. The sarees are named after the village where they are woven, Pochampally, a village in the Nalgonda district.

Gadwal Saree

Famous for their unique zari design, Gadwal sarees are ideal for all occasions as the cotton fabric makes it very comfortable. The sarees display vibrant colours that look superlatively attractive. The zari work in the pallu changes the entire look. Gadwals are woven in a small town of Mahbubnagar district using the kupadam or tippadamu technique. Gadwal sarees look very graceful and are ideal for any formal Indian occasion.

Mangalgiri Saree

These sarees are named after the town that is famous for temple and handloom sarees. The golden and copper thread work gives the otherwise simple sarees a glamorous look. Woven with a pit loom technique, the sarees have cotton fabric that is soft on the skin. Mangalgiri sarees are also available in attractive colours.

Narayanpet Saree

Narayanpet sarees are one of the most adored traditional silk sarees from Andhra. Popularly regarded as 'the garment of the Gods', Narayanpet sarees are used to drape the deities. These sarees have light zari work but are still lightweight and easy to wear. Normally the pallu is of a contrast colour, and this is the characteristic trait of this kind of saree. These sarees are mostly manufactured in Mahbubnagar.
