Sushmita Sen's recent look for a Diwali bash saw the actress sport a look worn by her 19-years ago, making a subtle point towards normalising repeating outfits.

Sushmita Sen has always been one to let her actions speak louder than words. In a subtly done eco-friendly move, the former Miss Universe has made yet another statement with her styling. A recent Bollywood Diwali bash saw the Aarya actress turn out in what has been revealed to be a years-old saree, quashing a still popular perception of celebrities never re-wearing their elaborate ensembles.

Sushmita Sen recycles her years-old saree

Sushmita Sen's recent look for a high-profile Bollywood Diwali bash, entailed her opting for an understated look. The saree in question carried a beige tone with a transluscent texture slightly embellished with Mukaish work through its volume. The standout bling detail on the saree was a shimmery textured border in silver. Sushmita paired her saree with a full-sleeved skin-tight blouse, also carrying subtle shimmer work over a beige base.

What makes Sushmita's look extra special, is the fact that this saree is actually years old. As a matter of fact the all-beige look is almost 2 decades old. The same saree was donned by Sushmita during her appearance on a popular chat show's 2004 episode - the only difference being that Sushmita had worn it with a cream-coloured bikini blouse back then.

Alia Bhatt too recently recycled her wedding look

Alia Bhatt was recently bestowed with a National Film Award for her performance in 2022 film Gangubai Kathiawadi. For the momentous occasion Alia opted for a soft white Sabyasachi saree with a scalloped border - the very same one she tied the knot with husband Ranbir Kapoor in. Alia's stylist, Ami Patel, taking to her Instagram handle penned a note appreciating the actress' gesture tagging the move with a "#itscooltorepeat".

Patel's caption read, "Fully and shamelessly tearing up @aliaabhatt wearing your own wedding sari for your first National Award, is the finest example you can set for the world to repeat their looks with a fresh take and look as breathtaking as ever. Not to mention how it ties in so beautifully with Gangubai famous for her white saris. YESSSSS not just #itscooltorepeat it’s THE thing to do!!! @aliaabhatt repeating her custom @sabyasachiofficial sari for the 69th National awards".
