Ganesh Chaturthi , or Vinayaka Chaturthi, lights up India every year with vibrant celebrations, marked by extensive queues, lively bhajans, and dance performances in major cities across the country. This 10-day festival transforms every corner of the nation into a showcase of Lord Ganesh idols. In a commendable shift towards sustainability, 2024 sees an impressive array of eco-friendly Ganesh idols that are capturing widespread admiration.
Saptamukha Maha Ganapati
In Hyderabad, the towering "Saptamukha Maha Ganapati" stands out as the tallest Ganesh idol in India this year. Reaching an astonishing height of 70 feet, it was crafted by a team of 150 artisans using clay, iron, and other materials. This impressive creation has an estimated cost of around one crore rupees.
Visakhapatnam’s Impressive Lord Ganesh Idols
Visakhapatnam also features remarkable Ganesh idols, including an 89-foot-tall figure installed by SV Events & Entertainments, the tallest in the state. Another notable idol, measuring 75 feet, was fashioned by the Lambodhara Charitable Trust from jaggery lumps sourced from Rajasthan , underscoring the festival's eco-friendly shift.
Eco-friendly newspaper Ganpati Idol
In a notable eco-conscious move, craftsman Moreswar Pawar has designed a 10-foot Ganesh idol exclusively from old newspapers. At just 10 kg, this idol is fully biodegradable and highlights sustainable practices.
Odisha 's artistique Ganesh idol
Additionally, in Odisha , the Friends Union Organisation has crafted a striking 15-foot-tall Ganesh idol adorned with 25,000 glass bangles. The accompanying pandal is constructed entirely from bamboo, reinforcing the festival's green initiative.
These innovative and environmentally friendly creations not only celebrate Lord Ganesh but also showcase a growing commitment to sustainability during one of India's most beloved festivals.
