The first look of Lalbaugcha Raja was revealed on Sepetember 5, amidst people performing to the tunes of traditional folk songs and numerous devotees that gathered with their sights set on getting a sneak-peak of Lord Ganesh.
Lalbaugcha Raja aka ‘King of Lalbaug’, situated in Putlabai Chawl, is considered one of the most visited Ganesh pandals in Mumbai. The localities from B-town celebrities, industrialists to the common man are known for paying their respects when in Lalbaug. The sight of people waiting in long queues every year to catch a glimpse of the sarvajanik Ganpati idol is quite normal during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations being held in Mumbai.
This well-known statue from the financial capital of India will be displayed yet again in New Delhi this year. It had first made its appearance in the national capital in 2015.
Lalbaugcha Raja sticks to annual traditions
The mandal is all set to celebrate Ganeshotsav 2024 in the traditional way. Lalbaugcha Raja is one of the most visited pandals in Mumbai during the festival season, witnessing lakhs of devotees who come to offer their prayers to the city's popular deity.
The unveiling of the idol in front of Mumbaikars took place two days before the Ganeshotsav 2024 festivities, which are slated to begin on Saturday. Every year, the mandal makes elaborate arrangements for the devotees who visit the Panday during the 10-days of the festival.
