When it comes to food, India offers countless options. You can find tasty dishes at both affordable and expensive prices. Even if you’re on a tight budget while traveling in India, you can still enjoy a decent dinner for just Rs. 160 or less.

Just as every culture has unique tastes for different occasions, let’s explore what Indians enjoy eating during the rainy season.

Pakoras

Pakoras are made with a mixture of potato, spinach, green chillies, onion. It is shaped into round balls and deeper into a chickpea flour batter before frying them into a hot oil. Pakoras taste better when served with coriander chutney, garlic chutney etc.

Samosas

An all time classic every Indians favourite. The fillings of samosas filled with its main ingredient potatoes mixed with herbs and spices when you take a bite you’ll enjoy the burst of flavour into your mouth.

Vada Pav

They say you’ll find the best Vada Pav in the streets of Mumbai. Vada Pav, a spicy potato fritter sandwich is one of the popular street food of the City of Dream. Just like any Indian fritters it is best eaten with chutneys on the side.

Corn

Another good Indian savour during the rainy season is corn. You’d see a food cart on the street selling corn packed with people rush for roasted or boiled corn. The chillie power and salt smeared into the corn with a little drops of lime is just best for the rainy days.

Chai

Chai! How could we forget one of the locals' favorite beverages? All the treats mentioned above would be incomplete without a piping hot cup of chai to complement them. Masala chai and ginger chai are must-try options if you’re looking for the perfect drink to wash down your food and warm your soul.
