Khatta Meat

Khatta Meat is Dogri food. It is a mutton preparation defined by its curry or gravy. This dish is an upshot of the Dogra dynasty that had substantial supremacy over the state. As the name suggests, Khatta Meat is a little sour in taste but in a delicious way. The tangy flavour is achieved by either amchur (dry mango) powder or anardana (pomegranate seeds). It is a must-try dish when travelling in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmiri Pulao

Kashmiri Pulao is a rice preparation. Unlike other pulaos, this one is much more on the sweeter side. The dish is a combination of rice and fruits, along with sugar and milk. Aromatic basmati rice perfectly mingled with seasonal fruits, tastes best when teamed up with meat preparation. The fresh fruits which are usually added in Kashmiri Pulao are an apple, pineapple and pomegranate. Dry fruits that are added to the dish generally include a mix of almonds, raisins, pistachios, walnuts and cashews.
