There is so much to eat in Maharashtrian cuisine that you will perhaps never run out of option. Maharashtra's drool-worthy food is also a mixture of many flavours and cooking techniques. Some techniques and recipes are indigenous and some are borrowed from other cultures. 

Maharashtrian desserts are lip-smacking dishes that serve as a hearty delicacy to have after the loaded gravies, rice dishes and flatbreads. Shrikhand

Shrikhand is a dessert that is consumed chilled. This hung curd dessert is said to be popular even in many Gujarati households. The creamy delicacy is sweetened with sugar and flavoured with cardamom, nuts and saffron. In summers, amrakhand or mango-flavoured shrikhand also becomes a desirable affair in the whole of Maharashtra.

Amrakhand

Amrakhand is a Shrikhand flavoured with mango, saffron, cardamom and charoli nuts. It is especially consumed during festivals and special occasions. This is a popular dish not only in Maharashtra but several other regions of the country.

Puran Poli

Puran Poli is one of the most famous and well-known sweet items in Maharashtrian cuisine that people love to eat. A buttery flatbread, it is stuffed with a mixture of jaggery, yellow gram, plain flour, cardamom powder, and ghee. Puran Poli is mostly served and consumed with hot milk or a sweet-and-sour dal called katachi amti.

Modak

Modak is mostly seen during the festival, Ganesh Chaturthi. Modak is a stuffed rice flour dumpling with a sweet filling of khoya, mawa, nuts and coconut. Now, you can also find many varieties of modaks in the market; for instance, Chocolate modak, Kesari modak, malai modak, til modak and many more.

Basundi

Basundi is a Maharashtrian dessert that is cherished by all the people and is a sweetened dense milk dessert. This lip-smacking delicacy is made of full-fat milk, sugar and cardamom powder. This is prepared with milk and is a little thick liquid in nature.
