Shipra Khanna: All about this Master Chef winner's culinary journey

Shipra Khanna seems to be living the culinary dream. She had won MasterChef India in the year 2012. Since then, she went on to write a dozen of cookbook, host cookery programmes and remain of India’s culinary ambassadors. But her road to fame does not seem to be an easy one.
MasterChef India changed Shipra Khanna's life
Shipra Khanna had a decade-long abusive marriage where cooking reportedly seemed to be the only respite. Winning MasterChef transformed her life and career. Shipra’s loved ones supported her throughout the journey. With MasterChef, she made her hobby of cooking, a profession. She reportedly claimed in an interview with a daily news portal that MasterChef India was the platform that helped turn her passion into reality and a profession. Shipra said that MasterChef was the “miracle” of her life. Winning the show, she got to go on a trip to London which was part of the prize. She also reportedly had plans for developing her own cookery show on television. Shipra planned to write her own book of recipes which materialised out from the time of her unhappy marriage.

Shipra Khanna’s cookbook called The Spice Route was reportedly inspired from her travels, recipes from her grandmother and mother and also from the kitchen of MasterChef. Shipra’s daughter suffers from cerebral palsy and was advised by doctors from eating outside. Hence, the chef reportedly prepared restaurant-like food at home. This too inspired her cookbook as Shipra had confessed in the interview with the daily portal.

Shipra Khanna had gone on a 'Spice Trail' around the world to understand the various culture and cuisines. She has now opened her restaurant called H.O.T.- House of Taste in Ahmedabad. Khanna reportedly believes that Gujarat is all about food and this is why she chose this place for her first restaurant. Apart from her Indian fusion food, Shipra also plans on introducing French-inspired Himachali food for the vegetarian palette of Gujarat. She had been tutored by the French Chef Alain Passard in Paris and wants to use the techniques she learnt to the food patrons in Ahmedabad. Shipra Khanna has also recently launched another of her cookbooks called Sinfully Yours which focuses on desserts.
