- Check them regularly for cuts, sores, swelling, and infected toenails.
- Give them a good scrubbing in warm water and clean them properly, but avoid soaking them in the water for too long, because that may dry them out.
- Exfoliate and scrub your feet properly to remove dead skin cells and improve circulation. By gently scrubbing your feet every day with a pumice stone will keep them neat and clean.
- Moisturise your feet every day with lotion, cream, oil, or petroleum jelly to keep them shiny and healthy. Avoid applying moisturiser between your toes. You have to keep the toe skin dry to prevent infection.
- Avoid wearing shoes that are too tight and give your feet some space for the air to pass. Make sure that your shoes do not hurt your feet. Also, make sure that your feet are dry and clean before wearing your shoes.
- Avoid wearing soaks repeatedly, as it can create germs and bad odour as well.
- Avoid wearing flip-flops, crocs, and flats. They do not provide enough support to your feet.
- Try wearing alternate shoes so that you are not wearing the same pair every day.
- Trim your toenails with a nail clipper to keep them away from dirt. Use a nail file to smooth the corners.
