Festivals bring about a major change in our lifestyle. The delicious food and desserts prepared during festivals are very hard to resist. If you are worried about gaining weight this festive season, you need to start thinking about what you eat. This does not mean that you have to turn down the festive foods, but keeping a balance of healthy and unhealthy choices is a must. Here are five tips that will help you keep fit this festive season. Take a look-

Tips to stay healthy and fit during the festive season

Don’t go back for seconds

It does seem tempting at the moment, but the very first way to stay fit is to not take a second serving. By doing so, you get to enjoy the food, and you don’t even need to worry about having overeaten. Take your time eating the first serving so that you end up finishing your food just as the others around you. In this way, you will not feel like the only person not eating while the others are in the middle of their meal. Eating slower will also lead to better digestion and you will actually realise when you feel full up. Nobody likes feeling uncomfortably over-stuffed, so knowing when to stop eating is always best.

Don’t skip meals

It is not a good idea to skip meals because you want to 'fill-up' on the buffet or devour an entire plate of roasted potatoes, later. It is important to keep your metabolism going as regularly as it should. In order to do that, you need to stick to the routine of having three well-balanced meals a day. Keep your lunches and breakfast well-planned and healthy as most social gatherings don’t disrupt these meals. This will ensure that you are getting all the nutrition you need from these two meals.

Drink lots of water

This is a fairly common way of keeping fit, but we still somehow always seem to forget. Drinking a glass of water regularly will help you in flushing out the toxins and curing any unwanted hunger feelings. It also keeps you hydrated and healthy. In addition, water is also a good treatment for a bad hangover.

Drink limited alcohol

During any festival, alcohol and other drinks seem to be everywhere and involved in almost everything you do. The liquor calories aren’t always taken under consideration but they can be the aspect that creeps up on you the most. It is a way of enjoyment and relaxation but can be toxic when had more than a limit.

Set realistic routines

When the festive season is on, it may seem difficult to stick to your regular routine. Set yourself realistic goals that are easily achievable and will make you feel satisfied.  Maybe a half an hour walk a day, thrice a week will leave you feeling satisfied and happy. You still need time to socialise and not miss out on the fun, but you can't completely abandon your workout ethic.
