Take a look at the signs and symptoms of osteoporosis.
Symptoms of osteoporosis
Osteoporosis makes the bones weak and fragile which increases the chances of injuries leading to fractures. Even though it’s a very common disease prevalent in the several continents, yet it is difficult to trace the signs during the initial stage. This is due to the lack of prominent symptoms. However, there are certain signs which are commonly observed in all osteoporosis patients. Some of them as listed below:
- Fragile bones
- Back-ache
- Feeling indolent all the time
- Lack of energy
- Stooped posture
- Multiple bone-fracture
Causes of osteoporosis
Hormonal changes: As mentioned above osteoporosis a more common in women than men, this is due to frequent hormonal changes in women especially during menopause after they've crossed 40 years.
Genetically transferred: If your mother or any other female family member is suffering from osteoporosis, then there are a high number of chances, that the diseases will pass on to you genetically.
Bone strength: In the formative years, if there is an imbalance in the bone generation process, then this leads to osteoporosis. This basically means that new bones fail to replace the older bones completely, resulting in uneven bone strength.
Unhealthy lifestyle: Cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and unhealthy eating practices also lead to osteoporosis. Excessive consumption of junk food can aggravate the condition of an osteoporosis patient, by multiplying several other diseases like high cholesterol, diabetes and heart strokes.
Less intake of calcium-rich products: Milk is filled with all the goodness of calcium; it is a major source of calcium which is easily available everywhere. If there is very less or no consumption of calcium-rich products for quite some time, then there are very high chances of being diagnosed with osteoporosis.
