PCOS, or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a medical condition that can be found primarily in teenage girls or women who are in their reproductive age. It is also called PCOD or Polycystic Ovary Disorder, which is a hormonal disorder. In order to prevent it, one should stay away from red meat, sugar, and dairy products.

Causes of PCOD

Currently, there is no factual information available as to what exactly causes PCOD. However, there are some associations with respect to-

  • Genetic linkage
  • Excess insulin production
  • Unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle

Symptoms of PCOD

Sudden weight gain: One of the most prominent symptoms which indicate towards PCOD is sudden weight gain. As a matter of fact, obesity is a common factor among women who are diagnosed with PCOD.

Irregular periods: If you’re missing your periods or witnessing any irregularities in your menstrual cycle, then there are a high number of chances that you might be suffering from PCOD. This is primarily due to the absence of ovulation which leads to prevention of the uterine lining shedding on a monthly basis.

Excessive bleeding: Due to irregular periods, women tend to experience excessive bleeding whenever they’re menstruating. This is because of the delay in periods which leads to the uterine lining for a longer span, hence, heavier periods than normal.

Facial hair: Women suffering from PCOD often have more facial hair than other women, especially in the chin area. Which also tends to become darker. Not just facial hair, in fact, women with PCOD have fast-pace hair growth on their stomach and back as well.

Skin & hair problems: Women with PCOD have active acne, which is not easy to deal irrespective of proper treatment. They also witness hair fall and hair thinning problems.
