Yami Gautam explains benefits of Dhanurasana; know how to perform it step-wise
Actor Yami Gautam explained the benefits of Dhanurasana (Bow pose) in her recent Instagram post. Here is a step-wise description on how to perform the pose.

Recently, Bollywood actor Yami Gautam took to her Instagram handle to spread importance of Yoga by performing Dhanurasana. More so, in her caption, Yami Gautam explained benefits of Dhanurasana and revealed that Yoga position increases spinal strength and flexibility, strengns lungs and legs. What is Dhanurasana?
Bow Pose, popularly kwn as Dhanurasana in Sanskrit langu, is a back-bending asana, in which one takes shape of a bow by reaching ir feet in a backward position. As per a report published in artofliving.com, Dhanurasana is derived from two Sanskrit words, Dhanur- Bow, and Asana- posture. Take a look:

How is it done?
- On a Yoga mat, lie flat on your stomach with your feet hip-width apart and your arms by side of your body.
- Fold your knees backwards and take your hands backwards and hold your ankles.
- Lift your chest off ground and pull your legs up and back, while you brea gently.
- Make sure you look straight ahead and sport a smile on your face.
- Keep pose stable and focus on your breath.
- After following above-mentioned steps correctly, you will realise that your body is w curved and taut as a bow.
- Make sure you bend only as far as your body permits you to. Do t overdo stretch.
- After 15 -20 seconds, as you exhale, gently bring your legs and chest to ground. Release ankles and relax.
