Karwa Chauth: How Bollywood films celebrate v/s reality

Karwa Chauth is considered as one of the most romantic festivals which is celebrated across the country. It is the day when a woman keeps a fast whole day long for the well-being and long life of their husband. On this day, the woman only eats or drinks anything after witnessing the moon. This year will mark the Karwa Chauth on October 17, 2019. Just like other festivals, Bollywood has beautifully expressed the importance of this festival by showcasing the couples traveling distance to see each other and husbands feeding their wives with their hands, at the break of dusk. But what Bollywood portrays is much different from reality.

Bollywood shows wife smiling as she looks at her husband. Proving her love for him, a woman keeps herself thirsty and hungry for the whole day. But well, the reality is something different. She is actually imagining all the delicious food she is going to get later. Suppressed smile probably means bloated stomach or the ‘if you do not feed me, I will eat you up’ look.

It is true that if a man does not know how to express his feelings, he does some things to take you by surprise. Sometimes, Bollywood shows husband keeping the fast for their loving wives too. Reality check: they empty the fridge, order their favourite food without being scared of it getting finished by his spouse. Unbelievable, yet true.
