Mohini Ekashi is considered an important day by followers of Hindu religion. Ekashi marks 11th day during Sukha Dasha because of which people around country devote mselves to prayers. Mohini Ekashi generally falls in months of April-May and this year, it will be observed on May 3, 2020.

History of Mohini Ekashi

According to a popular belief amongst people, Lord Vishnu took  avatar of Mohini on Ekashi Tithi to help Gods. When ocean was churned, nectar was released, for which Gods and Demons started arguing. Both of m wanted to have nectar for benefits that come from it.

Lord Vishnu decided to end dilemma by appearing in form of Mohini which conveniently distracted demons. This gave Gods an opportunity to consume all nectar. mention of Mohini Ekashi has also been me in Mahabharata epic.

Mohini Ekashi's Celebration

On Mohini Ekashi, devotees around world observe fast for an entire day. fast only ends on Dwashi, which is twelfth day, with a glass of milk. fast is observed by t having a single grain of food throughout. Some people take up lenient version of fast where y can have fruits and milk products but are restrained from having rice and or grains. Devotees are also expected to only sleep on ground while most people prefer keeping mselves busy entire night with bhajans and prayers.
