Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 31. The festival marks the pious bond between a brother and sister. On this day, sisters tie a rakhi (a sacred thread) on their brothers' wrists and feed them sweets. In return, the brothers promise to take care of them.

The origins of this festival lie in the epic scriptures of Mahabharatha. Draupadi tied a piece of cloth to Krishna’s hand in order to stop the bleeding from an injury. In return, Lord Krishna vowed to always protect Draupadi from evil.  Raksha Bandhan is also a significant festival because it is a ritual that remains unique to Indian culture and traditions.

As the siblings get ready to celebrate their loving bond, here are a few quotes and messages that one can send on this auspicious day.

3 things you need to know:

  • Raksha Bandhan is a unique ritual in Indian culture but is celebrated by the diaspora across the world.
  • Besides Mahabharata, the Raksha Bandhan festival also finds mention in texts of Vishnu Puran.
  • In 2023, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 31.

Raksha Bandhan 2023: WhatsApp messages to share

Bro, Happy Raksha Bandhan! You have always been there for the entire family, not only me. I do get inspired by you, the person you have become.

You irritate me, make me laugh, love me unconditionally, and always pamper me. I feel so lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for being in my life. Happy Raksha Bandhan.

You always protected me from danger and looked after me when I was crying. If superheroes were real, you would be one. Thank you, big brother. Happy Raksha Bandhan.

This relationship of the heart is tied to your hands. This relationship is connected to you from the heart.

We studied together, grew up together, and got a lot of love in childhood. This Rakhi festival has come to remind us of this love. Happy Raksha Bandhan!

As we celebrate Bandhan, I want to express my love and gratitude for all the sacrifices you’ve made for me. You are my guardian angel, and I am forever indebted to your love and care.

Raksha Bandhan 2023: Quotes to share

We remember that childhood of ours, that fighting and quarreling and later making peace with each other; this is the love of brother and sister, and the festival of Raksha Bandhan is coming to increase this love.

When sisters walk shoulder to shoulder, then who would dare stand against us?

Almost every joyful moment of our childhood is spent with our siblings.

There is no love like the love for a brother. There is no love like the love from a brother.

Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero.
