Delhi is, without a doubt, a city of historical monuments. The reason for this is that Delhi has been at the centre of political activities from the Mughal era to the British rule and even now. Many Mughal and Indian kings built their capital in Delhi, from time to time. As a result, these kings ended up making beautiful architectural marvels that continue to baffle visitors even today. Red Fort
Red Fort is considered to be India’s pride. Red fort is one of the most magnificent historical monuments in Delhi. Even after being built around 1648, Red Fort still stands strong, elegant, and marvellous. The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built this fort. He established his capital in Delhi while the Fort served as his residence. Red Fort is a very famous tourist destination of Delhi and thousands of visitors visit Red Fort on a daily basis.

Qutub Minar
The architecture of Qutub Minar is one of its kind and is worth watching even from far away. With its height being 73m, it is one of the tallest towers in Delhi. Though Qutubuddin Aibak started the construction of Qutub Minar, he was unable to complete it. The construction was later completed by Iltumish and then Firoz Shah Tuglak. Its red sandstone is a sight to behold. There are also tombs of many Mughal rulers in the complex.

Humayun’s Tomb
Humayun’s Tomb is one of the finest examples of Persian architecture. It is the first tomb in India to be built in the garden style. The tomb of Humayun was built nine years after Humayun’s death. Along with his tomb, the tomb of his wife, Hamida Begum, his great-great-grandson, Dara Shikoh, and several other Mughals are also buried at this location.

Rashtrapati Bhavan
Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India. It is one of the largest mansions in Delhi spread across 320 acres and consists of 340 rooms. Apart from the residence of the President, Rashtra Bhavan is also the house for the staff and includes offices too. The place was originally built as a residence of Victory of India. It is built by the British and was designed by a renowned architect of the time, Edwin Lutyens.

The India Gate
The India Gate was built as a memorial to the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their precious lives during World War 1, while serving the British army. It was designed by the renowned British architect, Edwin Lutyens. Today, India Gate is known for Amar Jawan Jyoti, a memorial to Indian soldiers who died during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The place has green lawns around it and is visited by many for picnics.
