Jammu and Kashmir is situated in the northern part of Indian subcontinent. But it has more to offer than Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahalgam. Read on to know more.

History states that union territory h once been mired by kings and emperors. It sees one of highest numbers of footfalls in summer and autumn months which are essentially best time to visit. But apart from famous Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir has many or beautiful places where one can enjoy scenic landscape. Here is a list of less explored places that this holiday destination has to offer:

Bangus Valley

Bangus Valley is situated in Kura district and is one of beautiful, yet unexplored places of Jammu and Kashmir. valley is located amidst an idyllic forest of pine trees and surrounded by mountains. One of main attractions of place is Kala Roos Caves which contain Stone wall paintings. It also boasts of a hot water spring. Bangus is a part of India’s eco-tourism drive and hence, tourists are t allowed to stay at night. Moreover, one needs to obtain permission from SP of Kishtwar. re is a guest house on banks of River Mawar in Reshwari vill where one can lodge after a tour of Bangus Valley.

Chatpal

Chatpal is nature’s parise with green woods of pine and a serpentine spring running through valley. In its scenic beauty, Chatpal is almost like Pahalgam but less exploited by tourists. It is a memorable destination for one trying to get away from usual rush and yet enjoy beauty that Jammu and Kashmir offers. One can go hiking in woods or simply interact with locals. Chatpal has a tourist bungalow maintained by JKTDC where one can plan ir stay.

Yusmarg

It is also one of less-visited places in Jammu and Kashmir. With lush green meows and pine forests fringing valley, Yusmarg is less beautiful than Gulmarg or Sonmarg. A 11-kilometre trek les up to a pristine frozen lake. Yusmarg is only a two-hour drive from Srinagar so it will be feasible to stay re.

Gurez

Located on ancient Silk Route, Gurez is one of high altitude Himalayan vills. It gives a wonderful view of sw-covered mountains and sparkling river, Kishanganga, which flows through valley. It also houses some exotic wildlife like sw leopards and brown bear. From Gurez one can cover beautiful Tulail Valley on same day. However, being located on LOC, Tulail Valley needs permission from Army Camp and SP of area. Lodging accommodations in Gurez includes tent and homestay arranged by locals.

Lolab Valley

Lolab Valley is comparatively more popular than ors. Lolab Valley is well-connected to Srinagar and can be reached by bus or hired cars. It is somewhat popular with tourists, though t as frequented as Gulmarg, Sonmarg or Pahalgam. Lolab Valley is a treat for eyes with its apple orchards, springs and pdy fields. Himalayan black bear, sw leopard, ibex and hangul (Kashmiri stag) are some of animals that can be found in valley. JKTDC has arranged lodging accommodation for tourists in Chandigam which is a few kilometres ahe of Lolab Valley.
