World herit sites are essential parts of cultural herit as defined in UNESCO world herit convention that was established in 1972. A total of 37 world herit sites are located in India. With Orchha entering into tentative list of UNESCO, here are some famous world herit sites in state of Rajasthan.

Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar features in list of UNESCO world herit sites. It consists of instruments that can measure time of day using just sunlight. best-preserved Jantar Mantar is present in Jaipur and in Delhi as well. monument’s unusual design is made in such a manner that  sunlight enters building at right places to measure time. unique feature of monument has led it to UNESCO sites list in India.

Amber Fort

Amber Fort also serves as a UNESCO world herit site. fort overlooks Maota Lake, which used to be its water source in ancient era. Originally created by a ruler named Raja Man Singh I, fort underwent continuous revations over next two centuries leading to completion of fort in 16th century. In year 1727, maharajas left capital for Jaipur, after which fort underwent furr changes.

Chittorgarh Fort

fort is spread around an area of 280 hectares and is said to be built by Mauryans in 7th century CE. fort is regarded as one of best places to visit when in Rajasthan. Chittorgarh Fort is kwn for valour of ir Rajput kings and romance sagas of Rajput princesses. A fun fact about fort is that it is largest fort in India and monumental ruins of place are a thing of beauty for all architecture enthusiasts.

Keoladeo National Park

Keoladeo National Park was formerly kwn by name of Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary as it is located in Bharatpur. Majority of tourists here include ornithologists. It is a man-made wetland and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna with migratory birds visiting here for breeding. It is called as one of world’s richest bird areas by founder of WWF, Peter Scott.

Ranthambore Fort

Ranthambore Fort has witnessed glories of Chauhan dynasty. fort is located inside Ranthambore National Park which is one of popular national parks in India. Built in 8th century by Chauhan rulers, fort came into existence after Prithviraj Chauhan's descendants made this place as ir capital. In 19th century, fort was returned to maharaja of Jaipur with whom fort remained until India’s independence in 1947.
