Varuthini Ekashi is a festival celebrated by Hindu people. It is also kwn as ‘Baruthani Ekashi’. This auspicious day is observed to worship sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu – Lord Vamana. It is also believed by people that worshipping and oring Lord Vamana on Varuthini Ekashi will bless and protect his devotees from all undesirable and negative energies and evil forces of world and help m get salvation.

Varuthini Ekashi is one of prominent Ekashi’s which is observed during Krishna Paksha of Vaishakha month in rth Indian Purnima calendar. Varuthini Ekashi is celebrated during Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month in South Indian Amavasyant calendar. Mostly, Varuthini Ekashi is celebrated in month of March or April, according to Gregorian calendar, and this year Varuthini Ekashi will be celebrated on April 18, 2020.

Timings of Varuthini Ekashi 2020:

Ekashi timing will begin at 8.03 pm on April 17, 2020, while it will end at 10.17 pm on April 18, 2020. Meanwhile, Parana timings will begin at 5.51 am on April 19 while it will end at 8.27 am on same day.

Rituals & Significance of Varuthini Ekashi

On this auspicious day, devotees wake up early in morning and do preparations for auspicious puja. believers also do a fast on Varuthini Ekashi and consume only ‘Satvik Food’. fast generally last for 24 hours and ends by donating food, clos and or essential things to a Brahmin. In order to worship Lord Vamana, devotees also sing songs or Bhajans and recite prayers in his hour and respect. Some devotees also re auspicious ‘Vishnu Sahasranaam’ to seek Lord Vamana’s blessings on Varuthini Ekashi to seek blessings and prosper in ir lives.
