'Leave Congress Or Else...': Bajrang Punia Receives Death Threats On WhatsApp, CM Responds

Celebrated wrestler Bajrang Punia has alleged that he has been receiving death threats on WhatsApp from a foreign number.

New Delhi: Bajrang Punia, celebrated wrestler who joined Congress two days ago ahe of Haryana Assembly elections, has alleged that he's been getting death threats, a close source of wrestler has informed, reports said.

After joining Congress party, Bajrang Punia was appointed as working chairman of Congress ' Kisan unit.

Punia has alleged that he has been getting death threats on WhatsApp via a foreign number.

message res, “Bajrang, leave Congress or else it will not be good for you and your family. This is our last message. Before elections, we will show you what we are. Complain wherever you want, this is our first and last warning."

Following threat, Bajrang has lodged a complaint at Sonipat Bahalgarh police station. police is taking matter seriously and an investigation has been initiated in case.

A police official said y received a complaint from Punia after which y launched an investigation.

When asked that some reports say that in threat message Punia was asked to quit Congress or be prepared to face dire consequences, Bahalgarh police station SHO Man Singh said over phone, “ matter is under investigation...”

On Bajrang Punia's complaint on receiving a threat message from a foreign number, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said, “It will be investigated if he received any threat message. Action will be taken against accused...”

Olympians Punia and Vinesh Phogat entered political arena on Friday by joining Congress .

party later fielded Phogat from Julana seat for Haryana Assembly polls while Punia was appointed as working chairman of All India Kisan Congress . Punia won bronze in Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Polling for 90 seats in Haryana will be held on October 5 and votes counted on October 8.
