In a setback to former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court on Monday, October 30 dismissed the bail pleas of Sisodia in connection with cases related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
The Bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti dismissed the bail plea with the direction to complete the trial in the case in six to eight months.
However, the top court also directed that the trial should be completed within 6-8 weeks and that if the trial in the case proceeds at a slow pace, Sisodia can apply for bail again within three months.
In an important observation with regard to transfer of money, the court said that a money trail of Rs 338 crore is tentatively established.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju appeared for the CBI and the ED. Senior Advocate AM Singhvi presented Manish Sisodia in this matter at the top court.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court in July had declined bail to Sisodia in the money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in Delhi Excise Policy Case holding that the charges are serious in nature.
