Ex-Cong leader records statement in murder case during anti-Sikh riots
A Delhi Court recorded the statement of former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a case of murder of a man and his son in Delhi during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

A Delhi Court on Wednesday recorded the statement of former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a case of murder of a man and his son in West Delhi's Saraswati Vihar during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Kumar was produced in Rouse Avenue Court from jail and recorded his statement in this case.
He is in jail in one of the cases related to Anti-Sikh riots against him.
The next hearing of the case will be on November 30 in Rouse Avenue Court.
Sajjan Kumar's lawyer Anil Sharma said that Sajjan Kumar's name was not there in those cases and after 32 years, his name came up in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation.
Sharma, appearing for Sajjan Kumar, said that Kumar was never made an accused in the earlier investigation. Before 2016, the witnesses never took Sajjan Kumar's name in this case, he added.
SIT has filed a charge sheet against Sajjan Kumar under sections 147/148/149/302/307 /326/395/397/427/436/440/201 of IPC in the case.
In 2015, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by the central government to reinvestigate the cases of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, decided to reopen the case.
Earlier in 2021, court charged Kumar with two murders in Saraswati Vihar. Murder charges related to the murder of a man and his son in West Delhi’s Saraswati Vihar during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The court charged Kumar with murder, rioting, unlawful assembly, arson, attempt to culpable homicide, dacoity, voluntarily causing hurt, and causing mischief and robbery.
