Madhya Pradesh has 205 crorepati MLAs out of 230, BJP's Chaitanya Kashyap tops the list
Among wealthiest legislators, recently elected BJP MLA from Ratlam City, Chaitanya Kashyap reported assets of Rs 296 crore.

Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, out of the 230 newly elected MLAs, 205 are crorepatis. Kamal Nath, the president of the state Congress, is one of the three wealthiest legislators, with assets worth over Rs 134 crore.
The MLAs' average assets were Rs 11.77 crore. According to an Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report, Chaitanya Kashyap, the recently elected BJP MLA from Ratlam City, leads the list with reported assets of Rs 296 crore, followed by his party colleague Sanjay Satyendra Pathak (Vijayraghavgarh) at second place with Rs 242 crore.
According to the report, there were 205 MLAs with assets over Rs 1 crore in 2023, up from 187 in 2018. Sixty-one of these MLAs are from the Congress and 144 from the BJP are crorepatis.
The Bharatiya Janata Party registered another landslide victory in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Polls winning 163 seats out of 230 increasing its tally from 109 in 2018. The Congress on the other hand was reduced to 66 seats from the previous tally of 114 in the state.
Kamlesh Dodiyar, the Bharat Adivasi Party's victor, is ahead of the newly elected MLAs with the lowest assets. Dodiyar disclosed assets valued at Rs. 18 lakh followed by Santosh Varkade (Sihora) of the BJP and his party colleague Kanchan Mukesh Tanve (Khandwa), with respective values of Rs 25 lakh and Rs 26 lakh.
Of the 205 crorepatis, 102 MLAs have disclosed assets of at least Rs 5 crore, according to the report. Up to 71 lawmakers have disclosed having assets ranging from Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore. According to the data, the newly elected MLAs' average assets increased from Rs 10.17 crore in 2018 to Rs 11.77 crore in 2023.
