Amritsar:  High drama unfolded in Punjab Congress meeting held in Amritsar on Monday, with two factions of Congress workers engaging in a clash. 

meeting, led by Punjab Congress in-charge Davinder Yav, aimed to discuss preparations for 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Tensions escalated over candidature for Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, resulting in clashes between supporters of former Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni and Amritsar MP Gurjit Aujla. Both factions fervently raised slogans in support of ir respective leers, prompting intervention from Punjab Congress President Raja Warring to restore order.

clash centred around demand for candidature, with Soni's supporters vocating for his candidacy and Aujla's supporters emphasizing Aujla's role as voice of Amritsar in Parliament.

se meetings are part of a broer effort by Punjab Congress to assess party's standing after recent assembly elections. Congress in-charge Davinder Yav is compiling reports on suitable candidates and overall position of Congress in Punjab, feeding this information back to party's high command.

meetings come in wake of decision by Congress and AAP to contest Lok Sabha elections independently in Punjab, despite ir alliance at national level. state units of both parties have communicated ir intent to contest all 13 seats in Punjab separately. 

Raja Warring downplayed incident, stating that meeting focused on dressing queries of Congress workers and that re was no undue disturbance from any leer. Punjab Congress President Raja Warring stated, " garing focused on Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency, where Davinder Yav dressed queries from Congress workers. re was no commotion initiated by any leer, and Congress workers expressed ir perspectives during meeting. Everything proceeded without any issues."
