Congress’ Misogynistic Slurs: Days after Congress’ Supriya Shrinate faced BJP’s ire over her alleged sexist post targeting the party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, the grand old party doesn’t seem to mend its ways.
In a fresh video that has now emerged online, Congress’ Randeep Surjewala is seen making a vile sexist attack on BJP’s candidate from Mathura 2024 Lok Sabha constituency, actor-politician Hema Malini.
In the video, Surjewala is seen addressing a rally. During his speech, he is heard saying, “Why do we choose MLA/MP? So that they can raise our voice, get our views accepted, that is why we choose them. They are not Hema Malini, who will **** (be submissive)?”
Surjewala’s comment is an alleged dig at Hema Malini, dismissing her as a politician.
The viral clip has been shared by BJP’s Amit Malviya.
Taking to X, Amit Malviya wrote, “Congress MP Randeep Surjewala makes a vile sexist comment, that is demeaning and derogatory, not just for Hema Malini, who is an accomplished individual, but women in general." He further criticised the nature of the comments, suggesting that they reflect poorly on the Congress party's attitudes toward women.
"This is Rahul Gandhi's Congress. It is misogynistic and abhors women," Malviya further added.
After coming under fire over the now-viral video, where Haryana Congress leader Randeep Surjewala is seen making disrespectful comment against Hema Malini, this morning accused the saffron party of "distorting and spreading fake news" to distract the country from the Modi government's anti-youth, antifarmer, anti-poor policies and failures and its conspiracy to destroy the Constitution of India. In a post on X, Surjewala said that he has a lot of respect for Hema Malini.
"Listen to the full video - I said, "We also respect Hema Malini a lot because she is married to Dharmendra ji and is our daughter-in-law," he said, as he listed out anti-women comments made by BJP leaders. "BJP's anti-women pawns were ordered to cut this video, but these same pawns never questioned the Prime Minister,” Surjewala posted.
Surjewala asked:
▪️ Why was it said "Girlfriend worth Rs 50 crores" in Himachal?
▪️ Why was a woman MP called “Shurpanakha” in the Parliament?
▪️ Why was a woman CM trolled in such a vulgar manner?
▪️ Is it correct to say “Congress's widow”?
▪️ Is it right to call the top leadership of the Congress a “Jersey cow”?
People of Mathura with Me: Hema Malini
Hema Malini responded to the controversial remark surrounding her. On Congress leader Randeep Surjewala's statement on her, BJP MP Hema Malini, said, "It is his work, they are in opposition. They will not speak well about it, we will do a counter attack. The people of Mathura are with me and they are all very happy. I have the blessing of PM Modi.”
Meanwhile, Hema Malini filed her nomination today from Mathura constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Surjewala Faces heat over Sexist Comment
