Canian scientists have anunced that y have discovered a brand new species of disaur. new species of disaur is closely related to Tyransaurus rex that strode plain of rth America about 80 million years ago. This new species of disaur is believed to be oldest member of T-rex family.

An older version of T-Rex?

According to researchers, Thanatoristes Degrootorum would have grown around 26 feet in length. Its name translated from Greek means 'reaper of death'. According to Darla Zelenitsky, who is an assistant professor of disaur palaeobiology at Cana’s University of Calgary, new species of disaur was named that way because, as per ir research it was only kwn large apex predator of its time in Cana.

Zelenitsky says  disaur's nickname has come to be Thanatos. Thanatos was discovered by Jared Voris, a PhD student at Calgary. This is first new species of a tyransaur found in Cana in 50 years.

While T rex stalked Earth 66 million years ago, Thanatos dates back to 79 million years ago according to researchers. study determined that Thanatos h a long, deep sut, similar to more primitive tyransaurs that lived in Sourn US.
study also mentions that difference in skull shapes of multiple tyransaurs could be attributed to differences in diet, and dependent on prey available at time.

120-million fossil

Last month, scientists in China found a 120 million-year-old fossil of a two-legged Cretaceous-era disaur. Interestingly, fossil was found about a dece ago but it was t until recently that study began. study which was published in Anatomical Record revealed that creature h fears on its legs and arms that resembled fears on bird wings. According to study, creature h a bony tail which also h two fears on it.

study revealed that skeleton was preserved lying on its left side on a single bedding plane of finely laminated siltstone. specimen is complete; only some ribs are missing. Fortunately, existing thin ventral ribs and gastralia are numerous, well preserved, and in life position, study stated. However, researchers are still t clear about reason behind fears on tail.
