eROSITA X-ray telescope discovers a new hourglass-shaped structure in Milky Way
eROSITA X-ray telescope has discovered a new hourglass-shaped structure similar to the well-known Fermi bubbles. Continue reading to learn all details.

Fermi bubbles are two blobs of massive structures in gamma rays which were discovered by astromers over a dece ago. se cant be observed with a naked eye, however, y are incredibly bright in gamma-ray emissions, which is most lumius and energetic electromagnetic light. It was se gamma rays that h led to ir discovery.
se massive outflows span over half of visible sky. One blob extends 25,000 light-years above Milky Way's disk, while or can be found just under it. However, se blobs have long remained a mystery for our galaxy.

Researchers find massive hourglass-shaped structure similar to Fermi bubbles
Researchers have w found a huge hourglass-shaped structure as part of an all-sky survey that was undertaken using an eROSITA X-ray telescope. se have been called "eROSITA bubbles" and y are found to be quite similar to Fermi bubbles.

se bubbles bear similarity to Fermi bubbles, however, y are t as large and also have less energy. Similar to Fermi blobs, eROSITA bubbles extend approximately 14 kiloparsecs below and above Galactic centre. eROSITA bubbles have sharp borders that have ability to detect n-riative and collisionless shocks, and y are only visible in X-ray emissions.

Considering that both Fermi and eROSITA bubbles come in a similar hourglass-shaped structure and midpoint, it is safe to believe that two could have some kind of a physical connection. It is also likely that both outflows have appeared from a shared eruption of galactic fireworks a long time ago. However, it is still t kwn as to what was real cause or source of bubbles, however, scientists believe that it could possibly have something to do with a huge outburst of energy from Galactic black hole.

It is likely that black hole could have been active in past connecting it to AGN with fasting growing black holes observed in faraway galaxies, however, it is dormant right w. According to eROSITA Principal Investigator, Andrea Merloni, blemishes which are left by se massive outbursts take a considerable amount of time to heal in haloes.
