An armoured disaur devoured a meal of tender ferns in western Cana before suffering a sudden death or perhaps drowning in a river or flash flood. According to a research published in journal Royal Society Open Science, disaur, called Borealopelta markmitchelli, from Cretaceous Period, gave an inside into diet of plant-eating disaurs. scientists revealed that fossilised stomach contents of animal were preserved in exquisite detail with its skeleton which helped m find ‘menu’ for its last meal.

As per research, fossil, from province of Alberta, represents best-preserved stomach contents of any plant-eating disaur. fossil also helped in revealing cellular structure of leaves and intact spores. palaeontologist Caleb Brown of Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Alberta, who is le author of research, said that direct evidence of diet in herbivorous disaurs is very rare. Brown ded that almost everything scientist think and kw about diet of such animals is based on indirect data such as tooth wear, jaw biomechanics, available plants and nutritional content and digestibility of those plants.

research explained that Borealopelta was 18 feet long and 1-1/2 tons. y were a member of a group called dosaurs. y h a wide body, small he and walked on four short legs. Furrmore, research said that as protection from large meat-eating disaurs, body was studded with osteoderms, bones embedded in skin, and it also h a large spike on each shoulder.

While talking about its stomach, researchers ted that contents were comprised mostly of leaves of a particular of fern, with very few leaves of conifers and cycs. A sizeable amount of charcoal was also found in stomach which indicated that disaur was growing in a recently burned area. Moreover, scientists also found dozens of gastroliths, or gizzard stones, swelled by certain animals including some modern birds and crocodilians to aid digestion.

Asteroid that led to extinction of disaurs

While t much is kwn about disaurs, according to ar research, it was revealed that astromers have found that asteroid which led to extinction of disaurs 66 million years ago hit Earth at "deliest possible" angle, at 200-kilometre (125 miles) Chicxulub crater in present-day Mexico. study revealed trajectory and direction of impact of asteroid on Earth.  asteroid unleashed billions of tons of sulphur into atmosphere, blocking sun, and causing a nuclear winter that solely wiped out existence of disaurs and overall 75 per cent of life on Earth.
