According to report, of 107 surviving lemur species in Magascar, about 103 are threatened, including 33 critically endangered species. Researchers called for an update to 'Red List of Threatened Species', emphasising fundamental need of 'reimagining' humanity's interaction with wildlife.

United Nations' biodiversity panel IPBES last year warned that up to one million species faced risk of extinction as a result of human activities.

Lemurs are regarded as Magascar's 'treasure' and are one of precious species unique to island nation. However, animal is struggling to survive against challenges of deforestation, poaching, and illegal pet tre.

Koalas Heing Towards Extinction
Magascar lemurs are t only exotic animals threatened with fate of extinction. An Australian government reported recently stated that Koalas will become extinct by 2050 in New South Wales if authorities did t intervene in protecting ir habitat.
Citing that government’s estimate of 36,000 koalas in state is outdated and unreliable, committee urged government to dress threats related to survival of Koalas.

As per report, habitat loss remains to be biggest threat to species survival in Australian state ding that a surge in logging, mining, and or activities has resulted in loss of habitat.
