NASA has announced that astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley would be aiming to return home by August 2nd. Read on to know details.

On May 30, X had created history by sending astronauts to International Station in a commercially developed craft. It was recently anunced that Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley are aiming ir return to Earth on August 2nd. exact time and date of ir return will be determined by wear conditions.

Tens of people had witnessed Behnken and Hurley take off to ISS in X Crew Dragon capsule on May 30th. It was first time in nearly a decade that NASA sent humans to ISS from US soil. It also became first crewed mission for X in its 18-year long history.

For how long have Behnken and Hurley been in ISS?

Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley have spent past two months aboard ISS. y were given company by NASA astronaut Christopher Cassidy and Russian cosmonauts, namely, Anatoli Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner. y had previously flown to orbiting laboratory aboard a Russian-built Soyuz craft.

What did Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley do at ISS?

NASA astronauts have spent ir time conducting walks in order to upgrade station’s hardware. y also handled scientific experiments designed for microgravity environment onboard station. Robert and Douglas have been actively sharing ims snapped from a viewing module aboard station. It has orbited Earth and hosted astronaut crews from all over world for two decades. Reportedly, since 2011, NASA has t been able to send its astronauts from US soil since Shuttle program ended in 2011. So NASA would send its astronauts to Russia and train on country’s Soyuz craft on seats. Reportedly, it cost NASA up to $90 million for each seat.

X had been working on developing its own replacement for Shuttle under a $2.6 billion fixed priced contract with NASA. Reportedly, X designed and owns its Crew Dragon capsules and associated Falcon 9 rockets y fly aboard.

Reportedly, NASA will serve as X’s customer and shall purchase seats for astronauts as needed and allow company to sign up its own passengers. It shall include tourists, scientists and even movie stars in future.
