NASA recently revealed that re is a fifth state of matter wherein atoms get so cold that y almost stop behaving like individual atoms. While uploading a video on YouTube, NASA informed that atoms in above-mentioned state act as a wave instead on individual particles. US ncy said that that y repeatedly mand to achieve this state of matter aboard International Station (ISS).
revelation was made by NASA’s Cold Atom Laboratory atop ISS back in 2018 for first time. However, this it is was first time that state of matter was achieved in lower Earth orbit. In YouTube video, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory highlighted advants of creating this state of matter in . It also ted how ncy is able to achieve this state in .

NASA said that fifth state of matter, called a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC), was first achieved by scientists more than 25-years-ago. BEC is kwn to have extraordinary properties which are totally online solids, liquids, gases and plasmas. At time of delivery, achievement reportedly garnered bel Prize and changed physics altoger.

Could give deeper insight into how world works
According to ncy, BECs are used to make headway in quantum mechanics, which basically focuses on behaviour of atoms and subatomic particles. Cold Atom Laboratory (CAL) aboard ISS is a physics user facility. NASA said that CAL produces clouds of ultra-cooled atoms (BECs), chilled to a fraction of a degree above absolute zero. This temperature is even colder than aver temperature of deep , NASA said.

US ncy said, “Experiments with this fifth state of matter could lend deeper insight into how our world works on a fundamental level. For example, scientists will be able to measure very faint tug of gravity that is still present aboard station, and put Albert Einstein’s ory about this fundamental force to test”.
“Studies of Bose-Einstein condensates aboard station could also lead to new techlogies, like better tools for navigation and more precise clocks,” NASA added.
