NASA releases pic of several environmental wonders of Pacific Northwest taken from ISS

NASA Earth shared the photo of the Pacific Northwest of the United States taken from ISS showing the Cascade Mountains, Olympic Peninsula, and the Salish Sea.

An astronaut’s experience of topography and environmental wonders from  International Station (ISS) has intrigued internet. On July 4, NASA Earth shared photo of  Pacific rthwest of United States taken from ISS showing  Casce Mountains, Olympic Peninsula, and  Salish Sea that caught eye of astronaut during his walk. Running across  sourn British Columbia in Cana through Washington, Oregon, and rrn California in US,  rugged terrain masked by  sw was shot in mid-April 2020.  

According to report released by NASA, iconic photograph was captured on Nikon D5 digital camera using a 50-millimeter lens and is provided by ISS Crew Earth Observations Facility and Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, Johnson  Centre. It broly depicted popular Olympic National Park that occupied  center of Olympic Peninsula in rthwestern Washington. park is rewned to have been explored by some of prominent figures in history such as naturalist John Muir, nicknamed as “ Far of National Parks” in late 1800s, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt who h initially declared region as a park in 1938. Glaciated peaks of Olympic Mountain Range abound in ecosystem with  temperate rainforests were viewed from and was captured in photograph.

Ar environmental landscape of ecological significance,  Salish Sea whose islands were declared as a national monument by President Barack Obama in 2013 were also seen from ISS. With several waterways, including Strait of Georgia, Strait of Juan de Fuca, and Puget Sound, sea is famous for its archipelago, San Juan Islands which home to diverse species, according to NASA. photograph captured by a member of  Expedition 62 crew showed a green and white combination of terrain and water bodies.  picture, which has been enhanced to improve contrast is “of greatest value to scientists and public”, according to NASA.
