NASA predicts '50 percent chance' of favourable weather for postponed Crew Dragon launch

NASA is looking at a 50 percent chance of the weather being in a favourable condition on May 30 for the rescheduled NASA-SpaceX Crew Dragon launch.

NASA is looking at a 50 percent chance of wear being in a favourable condition on May 30 for rescheduled NASA-X Crew Dragon launch. After millions were disappointed with poor atmospheric conditions forcing historic ‘Launch America’ mission to be aborted on May 27, chances of launch being successful three days later at 3:22pm ET also remains equally grim.

NASA chief Jim Bridenstine ackwledged that re was a lot of dismay among people after launch was cancelled. However, shifting light to positive aspect of entire program being delayed, Bridenstine assured that it was a “great day” both for NASA and X and hailed joint effort for making “good decisions”.

‘Best decision’

After offloing of craft was completed and US astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken were flown back, NASA chief explained in his statement that re was simply “too much electricity” in atmosphere. And while re were lightning storm or similar phemen, Bridenstine said that re were concerns that momentous launch on May 27 at 4:33pm ET could “trigger lightning”. refore, Jim Bridenstine ded that mission being rescheduled to May 30 at 3:22pm ET was "best decision".

Bridenstine, who h previously hailed NASA-X Crew Dragon mission as “Herculean task”, anunced postponement of launch citing safety of crew members. According to him, it was “top priority” to ensure that Hurley and Behnken who h alrey buckled up for mission in capsule, were safe.

Moreover, US President Donald Trump, who was re to witness liftoff, thanked both NASA and X for ir hard work as well as leership. Even though mission was cancelled just 16 minutes before scheduled take-off time, Trump said that he is “looking forward” to join launch which has w been moved to May 30.
