Rare phenonmenon: Merger of two black holes observed by scientists

According to reports, scientists from Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) and Virgo interferometer in Pisa, Italy have observed a rare merger of two black holes, news about which was first shared at an online meeting of American Physical Society on April 18. findings were published in Cornell University's arvix journal with a title, "GW190412: Observation of a Binary-Black-Hole Coalescence with Asymmetric Masses."

"We report observation of gravitational waves from a binary-black-hole coalescence during first two weeks of LIGO's and Virgo's third observing run. signal was recorded on April 12, 2019 at 05:30:44 UTC with a network signal-to-ise ratio of 19. binary is different from observations during first two observing runs most tably due to its asymmetric masses: a ~30 solar mass black hole merged with a ~8 solar mass black hole companion," arvix journal in its report said.

findings also said that event GW190412 took place about 1.9 to 2.9 billion light-years away from Earth. solar mass of two black holes that were observed by scientists weighed approximately 8 and 30 as mentioned in findings above. Solar mass is a standard unit of mass in astromy which is equal to 1.989e+30 kilogram or 2×10³⁰ kg. observations once again prove Einstein's general ory of relativity.
