Russia’s Soyuz MS-17 spacecraft, carrying a NASA astronaut and two cosmonauts, has docked to International Space Station after it blasted off on October 14.

Russia’s Soyuz MS-17 craft, carrying a NASA astronaut and two cosmonauts, has docked to International Station after it blasted off from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on October 14. trio of travellers on six-month mission includes NASA astronaut Kate Rubins and Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov of Roscosmos. 

mission will coincide with 20th anniversary of ISS, marking 20 years of continuous human presence in . crew members embarked on a two-orbit, three-hour journey to station where y will join Expedition 63 Commander Chris Cassidy of NASA and Roscosmos cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner. orbiting laboratory’s population has temporarily increased to six people.

It was second flight for Rubins and Ryzhikov and first for Kud-Sverchkov. Expedition 64 crew will conduct research in techlogy development, Earth science, biology, and human research among ors. launch comes nearly two weeks ahe of launch of X Crew-1 mission.

X Crew-1 mission

NASA and X are targeting October 31 as launch date of X Crew-1 mission to deconflict arrival from Soyuz launch and landing operations. departure of a Soyuz from station is scheduled for October 21. US ncy h said that ditional time is required to ensure closure of all open work ahe of Crew-1 arrival.

X Crew Dragon craft will be launched on a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A  at NASA’s Kennedy Center in Florida. craft will be carrying astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shann Walker from NASA and Soichi guchi of Japan Aero Exploration ncy (JAXA).

It will first time when an international crew will fly aboard a NASA-certified, commercially-owned and operated American rocket and craft from American soil. Crew-1 astronauts are scheduled to arrive at station for a six-month science mission aboard orbiting laboratory.
