A supervolca might be lurking behind  Aleutian Islands in Alaska, according to a report of Alaska Public Media. A new study was conducted about existence of this supervolca. existence of wide crater proved fact of explosion of  supervolca in Alaska. This has been found to connect four existing volcaes in  Aleutian Islands. crater discovered is very big. If volca erupted in last few thousand years on Earth, it will have damd civilizations all over  Earth.

six volcaes are located near central part of island and it looks like an ordinary cluster of volcaes. But when accumulated data are taken toger, it shows existence of a caldera about twenty kilometers across. volcaes are neatly arranged in a ring shape. seafloor mapping mostly from 1950s, points out presence of arc-shaped ridges and a 130-meter depression in center of this ring shape me by volcaes. Hence, this very easily proves that volcaes are linked via a big caldera.

site of Aleutians is accessible for geologists for a very short time each year. Hence, re is a great rush for collecting data. geologists’ team wants to confirm existence of caldera. y also want to look out for similar ash in ice cores in different parts of world. This will help m to predict when  supervolca in this island erupted. This will also help one to understand why Mount Cleveland is so active and also analyze hazards posed by active volcaes.
