As India awaits signal from Vikram Lander on moon, a team comprising US and Canada scientists have suggested that water might t be only thing under lunar surface, as per International reports. Earth Scientists have suggested that several precious metals may be buried underneath moon's surface. Reports state that scientists have orized this based on lunar material brought back by Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. y have said that that was 'first clue to treasure trove' hidden under moon's surface.

Treasure beneath moon?

Speaking to a science news ncy, Earth scientist James Brenan from Canada's Dalhousie University said, "We have a grand total of 400 kilograms of sample that was brought back by Apollo and lunar missions. It is a  pretty small amount of material. To find out anything about interior of Moon, we have to kind of reverse engineer composition of lavas that come onto surface. That would give us a clearer picture."

Scientists believe that moon was made from our planet's own flesh and bones. Based on this Brenan's team of scientists have conducted experiments on lunar materials. Reports state that combining results of experiments on solubility of sulphur and rmodynamics of cooling magma, scientists have found a clearer of lunar mantle. Explaining results of ir experiments , Brenan said, " Our results show that sulphur in lunar volcanic rocks is a fingerprint for presence of iron sulphide in rocky interior of moon." His team believes that it is where precious metals were left behind when lavas were created.

Vikram found intact but tilted

Meanwhile, India's own lunar Lander Vikram which hit lunar surface on Saturday had indeed made a 'hard-landing' on moon, as revealed by an ISRO official on Monday.  ISRO had also said that Vikram was found intact in one piece but was in a tilted position. Vikram had been spotted by Chandrayaan-2's orbiter on Sunday after it lost communication with ground stations. It had lost communication during its final descent, just 2.1 km above lunar surface, in early hours of Saturday.

What happened during Vikram's soft-landing?

Earlier on Saturday morning at 1:50 AM when Vikram was scheduled to land, ISRO's Deep Antenna lost communication with Chandrayaan-2's lander- Vikram as it descended towards lunar surface. lander had descended from 30 km to 2km smoothly. During final smooth braking st, it had lost communication with Mission Control. Vikram was aimed at soft-landing on moon, making India fourth country to do so.
