On vember 17, NASA shared a stunning sonification of galaxy cluster Abell 370 located about 4 billion light-years from Earth. Taking to its official Instagram handle, NASA wrote that home to hundreds of galaxies constituted so much mass that it “actually wraps around it.” NASA informed that it conceptualized information in im captured by Hubble and created sound from astromical marvel. Sonification is process of translation of digital data on ims into sound by using brightness and bending of light to assign pitches and volumes.

According to NASA, Abell 370 comprises several hundred galaxies that are embedded within core of galaxy cluster. As a result, mass of galaxies distorts , and magnifies and bends light that is reflected from distant background galaxies due to "gravitational lensing”. In sonification of Abell 370, a complex network of sound waves was created from myriad of cosmic objects located within galaxy’s cluster. “Brighter light is converted into louder sound, and frequency increases from bottom to top of im,” NASA informed in a release.

Sound similar to song

magnificent sonification of Abell 370 left astrophile mesmerized as many describe sound similar to a song. Objects near bottom of Hubble’s im produce lower tes, while brightest light near top produces higher symphonies across left to right. At places where stars shone brightly and re were compact galaxies, clear tones were produced, while sprawling spiral galaxies produced higher pitch. “Galaxy clusters are largest objects in Universe held toger by gravity. In addition to individual galaxies, y contain vast amounts of multimillion-degree gas that emits X-rays, and dark matter that supplies most of gravity of cluster, yet does t produce any light,” NASA explained about Abell 370.
